A Place Called Here

A Place Called Here

May 26th 2007

Digital agency Naked Penguin Boy was commissioned by Harper Collins Publishers to create an interactive viral game to promote the release of "A Place Called Here" by best selling author Cecelia Ahern.

The game "Missing Things" is based on the main protagonists (Sandy Short's) obsession with missing things.

The game is a memory game relying on the user's memory of where items are placed in order to increase their score. Each level displays a different item that goes missing in the book, with the final level displaying faces of missing people.

Naked Penguin Boy also designed additional elements for the campaign which included a fully branded Bebo page with downloadable mobile wallpapers, screensavers and PC wallpapers.

The viral marketing campaign for the game was assigned to NPB Media, the Digital PR and Marketing division on Naked Penguin Boy.

NPB Media's extensive understanding of the viral and digital arena enabled them to strategically place the game on key game and social networking websites. Buzz was created around the game through a competitive element where users were encouraged to submit their scores to a leader board and invite friends to play the game.

NPB Media were able to create pre release and post release awareness and interest in the book by leveraging the games creative and interactive elements along with the internationally known Harper Collins brand.
